Premier Felt Mfg. Co. has been owned and run by the Bothra family of Bikaner since the company's founding in 1970. Our current marketing manager, Mr. Manish Bothra, represents the third generation working in the felt trade.
That continuity matters. Industrial felt is a craft as much as a manufacturing process — every fleece behaves slightly differently, every density grade has its own felting recipe, and the institutional knowledge of why a particular wool blends a particular way is something you can only build over decades. We didn't acquire the felt business; we grew up in it.

Premier Felt is founded
The Bothra family opens a dedicated industrial-felt workshop in Bikaner — built around the city's existing wool ecosystem.
Standards adoption
Production aligned to SAE J314, DIN 61200, BSI and IS specifications — enabling supply to Indian defence, railway and OEM automotive customers.
Export programme launches
First export shipments to the United States, followed by Germany, Australia and New Zealand. Today we ship to 11+ countries.
Needle-punch line installed
Investment in needle-punch capability adds geotextiles, equestrian felt and filtration products to the catalogue alongside traditional pressed felt.
ISO 9001 & GOTS certified
Quality Management System certified to ISO 9001:2015. GOTS certification follows for the organic wool line — ensuring traceability from fleece to finished felt.
Bichhwal expansion & solar
New manufacturing facility at F-175 Bichhwal Industrial Area. Solar-panel installation across the plant. Full effluent treatment plant (ETP) commissioned for zero-discharge dyeing.

Bikaner sits at the centre of Rajasthan's traditional wool ecosystem. The surrounding districts produce the Magra, Chokla and Marwari wool breeds that have anchored Indian industrial felting for over a century. By locating our factory inside the wool source rather than buying through traders, we get earlier pick of fleeces, full traceability, and a structural cost advantage we pass directly to our customers.
It also means our shearers, traders and master felters are people we have worked with — and trained — across multiple generations. Quality is not a SOP. It's a relationship.
How we make industrial felt
The same five-stage process refined in Bikaner for a century — now controlled to ISO 9001:2015 standards.
Wool Selection
Hand-graded fleeces from Magra, Chokla and Marwari sheep — plus imported merino for fine grades. Tested for fibre length, micron count and contamination.
Cleaning & Carding
Scoured to remove lanolin, dust and vegetable matter. Mechanically carded into uniform fibre webs aligned to optimise felting.
Felting / Needling
Pressed: moisture, heat and mechanical agitation lock wool fibres into a dense mat. Needle-punch: thousands of barbed needles entangle synthetic or wool-blend webs.
Finishing
Calendering for thickness uniformity, dyeing for coloured grades, fire-retardant or oil-resistance treatments where the application demands them.
QC & Dispatch
Density, tensile, oil-absorption, tear-strength and visual checks per SAE/DIN/ASTM. Cut to drawing or rolled to spec, then export-packed.
