Industrial Felt Products — Wool Felt Rolls, Polishing Wheels, Geotextiles & Custom Components by Premier Felt

Choosing the right Premier Felt product

Premier Felt manufactures two main families of industrial felt: pressed wool felt (the traditional dense mat made by interlocking wool fibres with moisture, heat and pressure) and needle-punch felt (mechanically entangled with barbed needles, usually synthetic or wool-blend). Within each family we offer rolls, sheets, plates, blocks, wheels, bobs, geotextiles, equestrian-grade felt, dyed coloured felts, and any custom-cut component you can draw.

Not sure which to pick? See our SAE J314 grade chart, our industry-by-industry application guide, or our FAQ — or just send us a drawing and we'll spec it for you.

Pressed Wool Felt vs Needle-Punch Felt — which should you choose?

The most common question buyers ask us. Both are needle-punch, both come on rolls, but they solve very different problems.

Product questions, answered

Can I order custom-cut components from these grades?

Yes — every grade can be die-cut, water-jet-cut or CNC-cut to any geometry. Common custom parts: washers, rings, strips, wicks, gaskets, plugs, valve packings. Send a PDF, DXF or STEP drawing with target quantity and we'll quote within 24 hours.

What thickness should I order for gasketing?

Most gasket applications use 1.5 mm to 6 mm thickness in F-7 to F-13 hardness (density 0.31–0.44 g/cm³). For high-pressure or high-temperature applications we recommend F-1 to F-5 (0.45–0.75 g/cm³). Soft gaskets for low-pressure, irregular flanges use F-50 (0.18–0.23 g/cm³).

What's the difference between a "Felt Wheel" and a "Felt Bob"?

A felt wheel is a larger cylindrical disc with a square (90°) edge, typically 50–600 mm in diameter, mounted on a bench buffer or pedestal grinder. A felt bob is a smaller, shaped polishing tool (10–50 mm dia) mounted on a mandrel for use in a flexible-shaft handpiece — used for getting into tight features on jewellery, dental work or machined parts. Both share the same dense (0.45–0.75 g/cm³) hardness range.

Are coloured felts colour-fast?

Yes — our coloured felts are dyed with industrial-fast dyes rated for >4 on the AATCC grey scale for both washing and light-fastness. We can match any Pantone or RAL on request, in plain or mélange (heathered) effects.
